主要研究领域
长期从事气体同位素大气化学研究，是 “同位素大气化学”为主要研究方向的研究团队和实验室负责人，带领团队聚焦大气复合污染机制，在大气污染物组成、来源与形成机制以及同位素分析技术等方面进行创新探索和深入研究。
The research group of Yanlin Zhang focuses on atmospheric chemistry as well as the development and application of stable isotope (12C, 13C, 15N and14N) and radiocarbon (14C) for bulk and compound specific analysis of air pollutant. Atmospheric aerosols become a great concern due to their impacts on radiation balance (climate effect), severe adverse long-term and short-term effects on human health, reduced visibility, and other environmental impacts through their wet/dry deposition with acid, toxic compounds and nutrients to ecosystems and crops. Yanlin’s research interest in general is to improve our understanding of the composition, source and formation process of atmospheric aerosols. He has contributed to over 40 peer-reviewed publications, including publications in Nature, Environmental Science and Technology and Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics.

中国青年科技工作者协会理事、江苏青年联合会常委。
担任Atmospheric Research副主编、Atmosphere专刊主编。
现为中国生态学会稳定同位素专业委员会、中国矿物岩石地球化学协会气体地球化学专业委员会理事。
主持项目及发表论文情况：
主持国家重大研发计划（课题）、国家自然科学基金重大项目（培育项目）和国际合作项目等国家级和省部级项目10项，团队获批 2018 年度江苏省双创团队。至今共发表SCI（E）论文100余篇，SCI他引2900多次，H-index 25。近五年发表论文75篇(第一作者/通讯作者44篇) 。
获奖情况
2016年入选中组部国家“海外引才计划”青年学者项目、2016年江苏省“六大人才高峰”；
2017年入选江苏省特聘教授、2017年获“涂长望青年气象科技奖”；
2018年获江苏省杰出青年基金、2018年江苏省双创团队领军人才、 2018年江苏省科学技术奖二等奖（第二申请人）、2018年江苏省“333高层次人才培养工程”第二层次中青年领军人才；
2019年获南京市五四青年奖章；
2023年获国家杰出青年基金。
学生培养情况
作为应用气象学专业负责人、学科方向带头人，积极开展相关教学工作，承担《环境科学概论II》（本科）、《环境与生态学前沿》（本科）等课程主讲教师，指导本科生毕业论文约30人，其中有60%继续攻读研究生；指导省级和校级大学生创新创业项目5项，培养毕业博士2人、硕士4人，在读博士5人和硕士9人，指导研究生发表SCI论文20余篇，申报或授权专利8项。
